THE FRIDAY AFTER: KEEPING THE FAITH Peace Lutheran Church, in partnership with the Bay Area Coalition of Welcoming Congregations, invites you to join us for a special gathering Friday, May 29 at 7:00 p.m. The court decision will be announced on Tuesday, May 26 and... Should the court have ruled against marriage equality by upholding Prop 8, the evening will provide an interfaith opportunity for gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgendered, friends and allies to express our collective grief and anger. In prayer and healing ritual we will transform our pain and recommit ourselves to the work that will one day lead to full equality in California. The sanctuary will be open throughout Friday for prayer, meditation or reflection. Our clergy will be available from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. for any individuals or couples seeking pastoral care and conversation. Friends with no faith tradition are invited to join with us. You are also welcome to walk our outdoor Labyrinth or spend quiet time alone in the beauty and stillness of our Peace Garden. Should the court have found in favor of marriage equality by overturning Prop 8, the evening will become a joyful occasion to celebrate this next step toward full equality. With hope and determination we will anticipate together that day when liberation will come to our entire nation. Whatever the court decides, time will be set aside in the evening for the renewal of marriage vows and all couples present are invited to participate. An open reception will follow. We hope you'll join us for an Evening of Keeping the Faith. FRIDAY, MAY 29, 7:00 P.M. Peace Lutheran Church has been a Reconciling in Christ congregation since 1991, advocating for gender equality and the affirmation of people of all sexual orientations. | |||||
